St. Andrew's Newmarket was honored to have Rev. Mary Fontaine, the Moderator of General Assembly for The Presbyterian Church in Canada preach & visit with our congregation in April 2024.
Mary shared stories of her childhood, current missions & Indigenous peoples with us during her visit. Her passion & dedication was both inspiring and moving.

Our Christmas Bazaar takes place every year in the month of November and is organized by an incredible committee. The community is welcomed to the church hall to peruse craft and knitting tables, bake tables, upcycled jewelry, purses and scarves, used books, along with a treasure room of pre-loved items. There is also an opportunity to rest your weary feet and enjoy a hot drink and some sweets. The Bazaar is always well attended by the community and demonstrates the amazing team work at St. Andrew's.

The Christmas Tree Lighting is an annual event that takes place in Newmarket the night before the Santa Claus parade. St. Andrew's supports the BIA (a non-profit organization that represents the downtown Main Street business community) by leading the community in Christmas carols before the tree is lit for the first time of the season. It's a wonderful event that is well attended, and a great way to begin the Christmas season.

Mitten Tree Sunday is an annual event that is looked forward to by everyone. Donations of mittens, hats, and scarves are collected before the second Sunday in Advent. Then, our mitten tree is 'decorated' during the service by youth and the youth at heart. Sometimes, members of our choir who sit near the tree are decorated too! Their participation is always appreciated. The collected items are later donated to local schools and shelters whose members are in need of warm hats and mitts throughout the winter season.
Music is a highlighted event at St. Andrew's. Each year at least one concert featuring Bluegrass style gospel music is offered. In 2023, we welcomed Rescue Junction and The Lost Pilgrims.

In recent years, St. Andrew's has hosted a Spring Flower Sale featuring pre-ordered flower baskets, donated garden plants, and a book and bake sale. It is a great way to welcome the community into the church as we get ready to welcome warmer weather!
